What a wonderful trip!

All the planets aligned just right for all of us to be able to visit Jason's family in Montana during the week between Christmas and New Years. Jason had been furloughed from work, the kids were out of school, and I was able to trade away my hours. It was perfect! Well, perfect except that it snowed on Christmas and the roads weren't great the day after Christmas, but Jason and I checked the weather and the road conditions and all seemed well. For the most part they were well too. There was a road closure on Monida pass between ID and MT, but we were only stuck there for 90 minutes before it opened up and we were on our way.

Once we got to Montana, we had a fantastic time! I'm not a fan of traveling for Christmas, because for me that holiday is stressful enough, and I hate adding the stress of travel on top of everything else. There is the worry of taking presents there and back, people getting sick, things getting broken - it is just too much! The day after Christmas? Turns out that is another story. The stress is gone and the presents have already been opened. True, people could still get sick, but that happens at home too and as for things getting broken? You are breaking their toys, not yours. See what I'm saying? Very nice.

So where was I? Oh yes, fantastic time in Montana. We went sledding, swimming, played all kinds of board games, played Rock Band and really enjoyed everyone's company. We ate out at our favorite mongolian barbecue (thanks again Dan!), and we even made a fancy Chinese dinner for everyone on New Year's Day. Ordinarily I would agree with Ann Landers that company and fish both go bad after three days, but I really didn't feel that to be the case for this visit. Now if those that we visited in Montana disagree, you sure put on a good show!

After a week of visiting and merry-making, it was time to return home. So now we have our fond memories and of course pictures to sustain us until we can see them all again in Wyoming for the family reunion in August.

First question: what did you guys do for 90 minutes while you waited for the road to open? How did the kids handle it?

Second question? So where are all of these sustaining pictures?

I realize that there are two questions in the first section, but one is a follow-up to the other, so should be considered "first question, part B."

First answer: We have a dvd player and tv in our minivan so the kids watched a movie. When they got tired of that, we bought some dinosaur toys from the convenience store that was conveniently located at the exit where we were forced off the freeway.

First answer, part B: The kids did pretty well. They seemed entertained by the movie and toys. Truth be told, I have wonderful children.

Second answer: The sustaining pictures are on the other computer and will be posted at a later time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As always, thank you for your continued support!
