Tales of a Facebook addict

Oh sure, it started out innocently enough. A couple of my sisters-in-law were on Facebook and sent me invitations. I asked my sister Malauna about it and she said that it was fun, but not a huge deal. Then my sister Keturah got to talking to me about it and all the friends she found, so I thought "why not?" Famous last words!

To quote Glenn Beck, "I'm not saying Facebook is one of the biggest time wasters on the internet. I'm not NOT saying it either."

To be fair, I have reconnected with people I haven't heard from or thought about in years. I am friends with a couple of girls from my sixth grade class! It has also been fun to look at pictures, to see how they look in their mid-to-late 30s. I've enjoyed joining groups so I could see what people in my high school and plenty of people from my mission. I'm friends with people from the student ward and people I worked with. One person actually commented on how happy they are to reconnect with me and that she has been looking for me on Facebook! For that Dione Smith, I am eternally grateful. Best of all, I've even been able to garner a couple more readers for my blog!

The problem? I spend too much time there! I don't know why I need to check my facebook page for updates several times a day. I think it is a phase I am going through. After all, I did the same thing with my blog, to see if people left any comments.

So please bear with me dear friend while I deal with this latest addiction. If I don't respond to you right away, remember that it's not you, it's me. Plus, you'd be more likely to get a faster response if you put it on my facebook page!

Shanda, I know how you feel. Tony wouldn't allow me on Facebook because he was afraid he would really lose me to the computer! I think I have it under control. I try to stick to checking my facebook page only once or twice a week. Good luck with overcoming your addiction!

I'm with you! I feel like people are having a party without me and so I check a couple of times a day.
