Our eventful weekend

To best tell the story of the weekend, I really need to back up a bit. Kierra had been sick with a fever on Wednesday and Thursday. Tegan was also sick throwing up Thursday night. Just as I was getting the kids in bed, I got a call from Jason that the car wouldn't start. Well that's just exactly what we need, right? With the kids safely in bed and sleeping, I borrowed a car from my parents and drove up to Jason's work to see if we could jump-start the car. Of course the battery in a Chevy Lumina is almost impossible to get to, so after 30 minutes of removing everything covering the battery to attach the jumper cables, the car still didn't work! What were we to do? Well we decided to buy a new battery the next day and try again.

The next day was Friday, and for those of you paying attention at home, Tegan had thrown-up the night before so he was staying home. Jason and I waited until they were all down for a nap, and then snuck back up to Ogden to replace the battery in the Lumina and try again. Sure enough, it still didn't work. We decided it must be the starter. Very frustrating!

Through it all, we discussed the option of buying a new vehicle. We looked online at several dealerships and finally found a car we liked. We took the kids over to my mom's and drove down to the dealership in Bountiful. By the time we got there, they were going to close in an hour. We test drove the car, decided we liked it and started the paperwork. Because it was so close to closing time, we took the car home for the night and finished everything the next day, which was Saturday.

It was all worth it because we love our new Chevy Uplander! The battery isn't too hard to reach at all! I had rented an Uplander to drive up to Boise to visit Malauna so I already knew I loved it. Jason tried it out and felt the same way.

Plenty of space for camping equipment, luggage, groceries, cute models, etc...

We are all very excited. Of course now we probably won't be able to go anywhere in our fancy new van because of the price of gas and all our extra money goes into a car payment, which we haven't had in seven years, but it sure looks pretty in the driveway!! Jason is sick now and it looks like Tegan might be having a relapse, but who cares? We have finally joined the minivan club! Some things are just important, right?
