We're not that bad of parents, are we? Or Stop licking that off the floor!

Oh yes, it has truly been one of those days that I wonder what my report card would look like if my job performance as a mother was graded. If I received a job review, would I be eligible for a raise? Fortunately I don't need to worry about those things, right?

My first clue that things may not be great in the parenting department came when Janica stormed into the living room (she's four and storms quite a bit), demanding to know why her dad gave her a dirty movie to watch. WHAT??? A dirty movie? In the first place, I didn't know we had any and in the second place, why is he allowing a four year old to watch it? Further investigation revealed that it wasn't the movie itself that was dirty, but the disc. Well that really explained her frustration. She was upset that the movie kept skipping scenes. What a relief! Not only do I not need to explain it to my bishop (which is always a good thing), but it is something easily fixed by cleaning the disc (which we did).

So my other clue came later this evening. I was in the living room folding clothes, when I noticed something odd out of the corner of my eye. Kierra, the two year old, was lying face down on the kitchen floor saying, "mmm mmm." I told her to stop it and get up and then I went back to folding. I try to do laundry only one day a week so I had plenty of clothes to fold. Before too long, Kierra was at it again! "Mmmmmm," I heard. Sure enough, Kierra was lying face down on the kitchen floor. Again. This time I went to see what in the world was going on! Well someone had spilled jam on the floor and didn't clean it up, so Kierra was doing her part to keep the floor looking nice. What kind of mom would let her daughter lick jam off the floor? Should I have given her some toast or something? Maybe a spoon? It seems like mothers come equiped with some kind of radar that would prevent this sort of thing from happening! Well maybe the good ones do. Me? I have a floor licker. Sigh.

On a brighter note, here is Tegan enjoying his soccer game snack after the last game of the year. Great job Tegan!!

Dirty movies, dirty floors and dirty faces. What a mom you are! Hilarious stories of them all. Love the picture of Tegan.
